TULSA, Oklahoma – The Tulsa Drillers are no stranger to high-scoring games this season, but this one might top them all.

The Drillers scored early and often in an eventful 17-5 rout of Corpus Christi on Saturday night.

Tulsa gave up 12 hits in the win but racked up 21 hits of its own in the process.

Corpus Christi got on the board first with a solo homer in the top of the first, but Tulsa responded in a big way.

Tim Wheeler and Thomas Field both had RBI doubles as part of a six-run second inning for the Drillers.

But it didn't stop there. Lars Davis homered to start off another strong inning, which saw three more runs for the Drillers.

After three homers in the first six at-bats of the fourth inning, the rout was all but over. Tulsa led 15-3 after four innings and added two more in the eighth.

Drillers batters had a field day, with some players getting six at-bats in the game.

Ben Paulsen had five hits in the game, including four RBIs.

Six Tulsa players racked up multiple RBIs in the contest, while seven players got to cross home plate more than once each.

Tulsa pitcher Dan Houston gave up nine hits and three runs but got the win.

The two teams will meet again at 7:05 p.m. on Sunday in Tulsa.
