Partly cloudy and warm afternoon temperatures will be expected with highs in the mid to upper 90s. A few isolated storms are possible across far southern OK this afternoon.
A few showers and storms will continue to rumble across western and central OK this morning. These storms formed shortly after 2AM this morning near a shear axis across the state. They may hold together for the next few hours, but it is unlikely that this activity will survive into our area.
Temperatures today will move back into the mid to upper 90s with northeast winds around 10 mph. A few scattered showers and storms will be likely later today across the Red River Valley where the weak frontal boundary exists. This boundary will slide northward later Saturday and could spark off a few showers and storms across central OK, but the like hood of any storm activity in your area will remain slim this weekend.
The mid level ridge will continue to expand over the area this weekend and will bring the heat back to the region but a few isolated showers and storms cant be ruled out across far eastern OK every afternoon from 4pm to 8pm.
The GFS and EURO continue to offer a weak mid level wave sliding across western OK as the ridge slides eastward by Tuesday and Wednesday. This means a reduction of temperatures, if the data is correct, with a few showers and storms possible.
I have kept the temperatures for Wednesday and Thursday at 99. The EURO surfaceT plot keeps us in the triple digits for the entire week.
The EURO ensembles also offer a very hot pattern during the next 7 to 10 days. The actual H5 ridge placement is across the central Kansas area with very hot air likely. If this data is correct, we are going to be in some serious heat by the end of July.
Speaking of hot...
Yesterday's front slowed to a crawl and the southwest surface winds cranked up from noon to about 6pm. This destoyed my temperature forecast by 8 degrees in some spots. Instead of 94 to 97 the readings soared from 97 to 108! Tulsa broke a record with a high of 104. Goodness. Southwest surface winds are not friendly.
