SAN ANTONIO – The Drillers thought they had overcome a rough batting night, but they might have celebrated a little too soon.

In a dramatic and tough-to-swallow finish, Tulsa dropped a 3-2 contest on the road at San Antonio on Sunday night.

The Missions took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, and that would be the only run scored for the first eight innings of the game.

The Drillers had one last chance to get on the board in the ninth inning, and did so successfully with a two-RBI double from James Cesario.

With the way the game had been going for the past seven innings, a one-run lead seemed nearly insurmountable heading into the bottom of the ninth inning.

But San Antonio came through when it really mattered, scoring two runners on a double from Ali Solis to seal the game.

Daniel Turpin, who came in to start the ninth inning, picked up the loss after giving up the tying and go-ahead runs.

Christian Friedrich threw an impressive game, going eight innings and giving up just one run before exiting prior to the final inning.

Tulsa will continue its series at San Antonio at 7:05 p.m. on Monday.
