TULSA, Oklahoma -- An overturned garbage truck caused a messy situation at 71st and Garnett Thursday morning.

The commercial trash truck was northbound on Garnett at about 7:30 a.m. when it turned left on 71st.  Police say the driver was going too fast for the turn, hit a curb and put the truck over on its right side.

Some trash was spilled on a nearby sidewalk and parking lot, and the truck lost some fluid as well.  Sooner Emergency crews were called to pick up the trash and help with the diesel spill.

Two large wreckers got the truck back over onto its wheels. Westbound 71st Street was closed as the accident scene was cleaned up.

The driver had some minor injuries and was taken by EMSA to the hospital to be checked out. He is expected to be ok.
