TULSA, Oklahoma – The Holland Hall Dutch scored 35 unanswered points to start the second half and avoided their first loss of the season Friday night. Holland Hall downed the visiting St. Johns (TX) Mavericks, 42-28.

The Dutch got off to a fast start. Senior Kwame Sexton returned a punt for a touchdown in the first quarter to give his team a 7-0 lead, but from there Holland Hall went quiet on offense. The Mavericks took advantage and struck for two scores, shocking the home crowd.

Sexton had a chance to tie the game just before halftime but fumbled on 4th down at the 1-yard line and St. Johns recovered. Holland Hall trailed 14-7 at the midway point.

Head coach Tag Gross said after the game that the seniors spoke up in the locker room at halftime and re-energized the team. It showed, as the Dutch reeled off five touchdowns to ice the game.

The 28 points was the most Holland Hall had allowed all season. The previous high for points allowed was 20 against St. Mark School (TX) in Week 6.

Quarterback Brad Kragthorpe threw three touchdowns and Sexton finished the night with three total scores. Holland Hall improved to 9-0 on the season. They have outscored their opponents 387-157.
