CLINTON, Oklahoma -- Tornado Bowl is known for its loud, rambunctious fans. Clinton is known for its rich tradition. The Red Tornadoes’ coach Mike Lee is known for his success -- racking up 15 state titles in his years at Clinton.

What the Clinton Red Tornadoes aren’t known for is losing, especially on a laundry list of missteps as they did Friday night.

The Catoosa Indians had one shot to stay alive, going against the odds by traveling to Clinton. They knew they had to play tough defense to hold off the persistent offense the Reds have played with all season.

It may not have been the Indians’ strong D that did the Reds in though.

It was a series of penalties in the first half and the inability to finish in the red zone contributed to Clinton’s loss. Not to say the Indians didn’t pounce on the chance to move on the semifinals.

Catoosa’s Cole Scheulen had 94 yards on 15 carries, while Kalen Reimer recorded 17 yards on 14 carries, including two touchdowns. The Indians trailed at half, 13-7, despite the Red Tornadoes’ five penalties in which they sacrificed 55 yards. Coach Lee simply made too many mistakes that cost them the game?and the possibility of a 16th Gold Ball for him.

The Indians rebounded in the second half, gaining momentum and yardage. They posted two additional touchdowns to take the lead and move on to the semifinals, where they’ll face the undefeated Wagoner Bulldogs.

Catoosa will be wishing against d?j? vu though, as the Bulldogs pummeled them in the regular season 48-14.
