BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -- Broken Arrow police officers got their feet wet Thursday to learn life-saving skills.
Officers teamed up with volunteers at the local Salvation Army Boys and Girls club to learn a variety of rescue techniques.
They practiced a variety of scenarios, everything from an out-of-control victim who is fighting them to an unconscious person who is basically dead weight.
"Sometimes, they're the first responders to pool accidents, to on the road, someone goes into the water too deep and these guys, they're the first ones on the scene," said Donna Burdick, with the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club.
BAPD will also take part in the Highway Patrol's water training program to perfect the skills they learned today.
