Russell Hulstine,

BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -- The field of Republican candidates vying to replace Oklahoma's only Democrat in Congress continues to expand.

On Tuesday, September 6, 2011, Broken Arrow businessman Markwayne Mullin says he will announce he's running for the seat currently held by Congressman Dan Boren.

The owner of Mullin Plumbing will be holding a news conference in Claremore to make his announcement.

Last month, Naval Academy graduate and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Dakota Wood of Claremore announced his candidacy for the 2nd Congressional District.

Former state representative Wayne Pettigrew said in August he was forming an exploratory committee.

State Representative George Faught announced in mid-July he too was running for the seat.

Other names mentioned on the Republican side include pastor Dwayne Thompson and attorney Dustin Rowe.

With Mullin's Tuesday announcement, there are six Republicans who have either announced as candidates or formed exploratory committees.

So far, Brad Carson, a Democrat, has said said no to seeking to replace Boren.
