Record-Setting Donation Will Help Okmulgee School

Posted: Updated:

TULSA, Oklahoma -- A record-setting donation will help the Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology build a new, world-class facility.

ChesAPeake Energy announced Wednesday the corporation is committing $2 million to a state-of-the-art natural gas compression training center.

The facility is the first of its kind in the energy field. It will be built on the Okmulgee campus, and will be equipped with the technology, machinery, and tools that will make students "work-ready" when they graduate.

"Rather than consider it just a gift, this is an investment for Chesapeake so that we can have future, talented technicians that we need to fulfill our business," said Mike Stice, Chesapeake Midstream President.

Chesapeake's gift will help OSU, IT start construction right away on the $4 million center.
