TULSA, Oklahoma -- The smack talk is everywhere as we head into this weekend's OU-Texas game. But for one OU grad, this time of year makes him cringe.

He bleeds crimson and cream, but his last name is -- Longhorn!

OU legend Billy Sims was shocked meeting the OU grad.

"Lee Longhorn? You've gotta be kidding!" He said.

We'd love to say that's a classic response, but it's typical for Longhorn.

"You're an OU grad, with a Texas mascot. Just think of that dilemma right there," said Lee Longhorn.

The 23-year-old was born in Norman and graduated from OU in May. He has several stories about his Norman years with that scandalous surname.

"It was definitely an experience, especially being in the Pride my first year. When they do roll call, it be like, 'Longhorn, who's that?" Longhorn said.

Longhorn has a rich family history -- he's half Creek and his last name comes from his Shawnee roots.

"A lot of the Longhorn side, they are UT fans just because of the last name Longhorn, but my brother was in the OU band before me and then I showed up and I graduated," he said.

The only time he ever truly considered changing his name was during tryouts for OU drum major.

"Because all I could think of was, 'are they really going to announce my last name at OU's homecoming, with alumni there, and even OU-Texas? They're going to be like, 'yeah, it's a Longhorn at the OU games,'" he said.

Longhorn got a job with the Creek Nation and moved away from Norman. But he's still bull-headed when it comes to liking Texas.

"I don't even use an orange highlighter. If I see a Texas Longhorn item of any kind, I always turn it upside down because that's how I was raised," he said.

Longhorn says he was always dead set on OU for college and Texas was never even an option. He hopes both schools stay in the Big 12 so the OU-Texas rivalry stays alive.
