Cat Shot With BB Gun Finds Loving Home In Tulsa

TULSA, Oklahoma – I professes not to like cats very much, so imagine the surprise in the newsroom when I announced I was doing a story about a cat. But Lucky is no ordinary cat.

It's not so much that I don't like cats, but they make my eyes itch, and nose run, so we decided to talk on the front porch.

"I've had him two and a half weeks," Sandra, Lucky's owner, said.

She named him Lucky, because he is. Sandra and her husband were at Lake Tenkiller.

"We were camping, and we went to walk up to the Tenkiller Dam, there's an overlook there. He just sort of walked up to me," she said.

She said he was a mess, very thin and obviously injured. His left eye is missing and has lots of BB wounds.

"There's a BB right up here you can feel it when you pet him, several of them," Sandra said.

She figures he was dumped and subsequently someone used him for target practice.

"Spay and neuter your pets and treat them with love and kindness, and they'll return that love," Sandra said.

She said he gets along with her other pets very well, except for Lucky's occasional bout with shyness.

Lucky has to go to the vet to get his damaged eye worked on, and eventually may have to have all the BB's removed. Otherwise he's getting better.
