Beautiful fall weather will continue through Halloween, but several storm systems will be developing and heading our way over the next week or two.

Several issues to deal with during the coming week with one storm system moving through along about the middle of the week, another arriving over the weekend, and perhaps another early next week. In other words, we will be having a more active weather pattern over the course of the next week or two which will hopefully put some more dents in our drought situation.

On the other hand, the next couple of days will be rather quiet, but there are still some issues to deal with. The primary issue will be the wind which will be increasing from the south on Monday and will be quite strong from the south on Tuesday into the day Wednesday. The strength of the winds will create an enhanced fire danger situation over that period. Those southerly winds will also result in very mild temperatures for this time of year.

Light winds and clear skies to start the day Monday will get us off to a chilly start with possibly even some frost in the normally colder valleys. But, lots of sunshine and southerly winds increasing to 10-18 mph by afternoon will result in a nice rebound and most of us should reach the lower 70s. That will make for very pleasant conditions for the Trick or Treaters Monday evening with fair skies, southerly breezes, and temperatures dropping into the upper 50s by 8 PM.

Sunny skies and strong southerly winds possibly in excess of 30 mph at times will really warm things up on Tuesday with highs well into the 70s. These winds will be in response to falling pressure to the west as a developing storm system will be coming our way. The timing on the trailing cold front now looks to be during the evening or perhaps early night time hours of Wednesday night. The strong dynamics may be able to overcome what looks like limited instability and still produce some strong storms for Wednesday evening. A few showers may linger into the day Thursday, but our skies should be clearing as the day wears on and with brisk northerly winds it will be cooler.

Yet another storm system will then be approaching over the weekend and now looks like the cold front and any associated showers or storms will move through late Saturday or during the overnight hours. However, as is often the case, the longer range guidance becomes widely divergent by that time so some showers may linger into the day Sunday as well. There are also indications that yet another system will quickly form and head our way early next week with another shot at showers or storms. So, we may be entering a more active weather pattern over the next two weeks.

In the meantime, stay tuned and check back for updates.
