Former State Senator New Sheriff Of Delaware County

The new sheriff of Delaware County is former Democratic State Senator Rick Littlefield.

The Delaware County commissioners in a two to one vote Tuesday approved the selection of Littlefield to fill the post vacated earlier this month with the resignation of Jay Blackfox.

The commissioner said Littlefield will serve the remaining 14 month's of Blackfox's term.

Blackfox resigned on November 4, 2011 after the county commissioners settled a multi-million dollar federal civil rights lawsuit over treatment of female inmates in the Delaware County jail.
