What A Difference A Day Can Make!

It is obvious that the cold front has not quite made it to the extreme SE corner as the rest of the state is running at least 20-30 degrees below Saturday morning. The cold front will hang up down there with shallow, cold air in place for the rest of us. The cloudy skies and brisk northerly winds will keep temperatures from warming much, if at all, for the rest of the day today.

As we get into the evening and overnight hours, there will also be a chance of some light rain or possibly even some storms, mainly for the SE and E counties. The better chances of rain still look to be later Monday through the overnight hours and ending Tuesday morning. That front will try to work its way back north as a warm front as a strong system aloft will be moving overhead. Most of us will stay in the colder air, but the extreme E and SE counties should moderate somewhat. This will also provide not only widespread rainfall but the potential for locally very heavy rains and a Flash Flood Watch has been issued. Not only that, but there will also be the potential for some of those storms to become severe with a wind/hail threat primarily.

So, a cold raw day today with a slight chance of light rain, followed by another cold, raw day on Monday but rain, locally heavy at times, and possibly some storms will also be a good bet.

Tuesday will be a transition day as the storm moves on eastward. Some lingering rain or showers may persist through the morning hours followed by skies gradually clearing from W-E by evening/overnight.

Wednesday looks to be clear with light and variable winds for much of the day. After a cold start, temperatures will be moderating that afternoon followed by warmer weather for Thanksgiving Day. In fact, Thanksgiving Day will be pleasant with morning temperatures in the 30s and afternoon temperatures in the 60s. There will be lots of sunshine, but a gusty south wind of 15-25 will be a nuisance.

Another cold front will be moving through Friday night with a chance of showers/storms for that afternoon/evening. Gusty southerly winds again Friday will be followed by gusty northerly winds and cooler conditions again for Saturday and Sunday. There is also a chance for some lingering light rain or showers going into the coming weekend.

So, after some very unsettled conditions for the next couple of days, our weather will be settling down just in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday followed by another unsettled period.
