Millions of Americans headed back to the stores today to return Christmas gifts, use gift cards or simply cash in on more sales. In Tulsa, many stores opened earlier on Monday for the crowds.

The day after Christmas is always a busy one for retailers for many different reasons. One reason the days after Christmas are expected to be above average for sales is that millions of Americans have delayed their Christmas spending this year, like Xavier Wilborne, who hit the mall at 8 a.m.

"Journey has good sales, I know GameStop has 50% off some games, a lot of places have good sales," Wilborne said.

Sales signs like 50 percent off, buy one get one free and even clearance deals greet shoppers at Woodland Hills Mall. The Reeves family came with a game plan.

"Purses on sale at Macy's and we know there's extra percentages off at Gap," Lori Reeves said.

In a recent American Express survey, more than one in five after-Christmas shoppers plan to cash in gift cards, even though the National Retail Federation finds $41 billion in gift cards have not been redeemed since 2005.

Nicole Klinnert won't be part of that statistic.

"My grandparents are from Minnesota so they came down and we are going to spend some extra cash, probably go to Victoria's Secret," Klinnert said.

This year, more stores are being flexible by eliminating re-stocking fees and extending the number of days customers can return an item.

The website "ShopperTrak" predicts foot traffic at malls and stores across America to be up 60 percent this year compared to last December 26.
