Owasso Police were called to the scene of a retirement community after a resident threatened firefighters with a rifle.

It happened at the Baptist Retirement Village of Owasso in the 12700 block of East Azalea Lane, just south of 76th Street North and 127th East Avenue.

Officers say firefighters were called to the scene in response to a medical emergency. An adult male in the community's independent living facility pulled a rifle on them.

The initial report came in as a shots fired call, however; further investigation reveals that no shots were fired.

"Owasso Police quickly surrounded the home, made telephone contact with the patient and ordered him to exit the home," said Sergeant Nick Boatman of the Owasso Police Department. "The patient exited and was taken into custody."

Police recovered the weapon from the resident.  The man was not injured but was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation.

Police say they have not filed charges in the incident.
