SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Even a change of scenery couldn't quite turn things around for the Cowboy baseball team.
The Missouri State Bears topped Oklahoma State 5-2 on Tuesday in Springfield, handing the Cowboys their fourth loss in the past five games.
One of those four losses came against the very same Missouri State team – but in Stillwater – where OSU dropped the contest 7-1 at home.
Oklahoma State pitcher Blake Barnes had a rough day on the mound, giving MSU all of five of its runs and all nine of its hits.
Neither Philip Harrison nor Kyle Bagnell, OSU's reliever and closer, gave up a hit during their time but the Cowboy offense couldn't chip away at the lead.
The Bears were on the board first with a 2-0 lead in the second inning.
Oklahoma State actually came back to tie it up, as a homer from Jared Womack in the third and an RBI from Robbie Rea in the fourth knotted it at 2-2. But it was all Missouri State from that point.
The loss keeps the Cowboys under .500 at 6-7 on the year, while Missouri State moved to 9-3.
OSU will return to the field Friday evening in Stillwater to take on Alabama A&M in a three-game series. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
