Sylve's wife, Nicole, says she learned she was HIV positive last October.
Grady County Attorney Jason Hicks says Sylve has known he has been HIV positive since 2005.
GRADY COUNTY, Oklahoma -
A
Grady County man is facing seven felony charges for intentionally infecting his
wife and at least one other woman with the HIV virus.
County
Attorney Jason Hicks filed charges against 23-year-old Chris Sylve
Thursday. Hicks says Sylve has known he has been HIV positive since
2005. Sylve's wife, Nicole, says she learned she was HIV positive last
October, when tests showed she was also pregnant with Sylve's child.
Nicole married Chris Sylve last
October. About that same time she found
out she was pregnant. She says those
same tests showed Chris had also given her HIV.
"It's disgusting. You are nothing if you can do that. He's a
monster," said Nicole.
Another
woman has also come forward and says she dated Sylve for four years. She
says she and the young child she had with Sylve is also HIV positive.
Again, Sylve is charged with seven
felonies, including assault and battery with a deadly weapon. He's also charged with having sex with a
14-year-old girl. Prosecutors want any woman who has had sex with this man in
the last decade to get tested for HIV.
"There are potentially a large number
of people that may be affected by this," said Hicks.
Chris Sylve is scheduled to make his next
court appearance either tomorrow or Monday. Right now his bail is $1-million. Hicks
says he is going to try to get the judge to increase that bond, because he
doesn't want to give Sylve any chance to walk out of the Grady County Jail.
