The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and state jail inspectors are investigating the death of a Jackson County inmate who was found dead in his cell Thursday.

Authorities say 19-year-old Trent Davis was alone when they found him hanging from a commissary-issued sock that had been looped through a vent, above a toilet and water fountain fixture outside of the range of surveillance cameras.

Davis was serving a five-year deferred sentence for his role in the death of a 13-year-old girl. His body was sent to the Medical Examiner's Office for evaluation.
