BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – UAB was able to break up Tulsa's winning streak on Saturday morning, but it didn't take the Golden Hurricane long to get revenge.
TU split a pair of games with the Blazers on Saturday morning, losing 2-1 in the first game before taking the second game 3-0.
The first game of the day broke a five-game winning streak for the Golden Hurricane. All three of the game's runs were scored in the first inning.
Tulsa got on the board as Samantha Cobb came home on a single from Skylar Swanson to start things off.
But UAB quickly responded with a two-RBI single in the bottom of the first inning, and that would be all the Blazers would need.
The rest of the game was dominated by the pitching, as Lannah Campbell got the win for UAB and Lacey Middlebrooks got the loss. Middlebrooks threw six innings, giving up five hits and two runs.
In the second game of the day, however, Tulsa turned the tables on the Blazers.
Right off the bat, Caitlin Everett and Jill Barret singled to reach base.
Samantha Cobb quickly followed them up with a three-run homer, giving TU a 3-0 lead before an out was even recorded.
But that would be the only scoring the second game of the day would see.
Aimee Creger threw a complete game shutout to hold off any chance UAB had. She gave up four hits while striking out 10.
Tulsa moved to 37-12 overall and 18-5 in C-USA play. UAB is now at 36-18 (17-6) after splitting the two games.
The Golden hurricane will close out the regular season at 1 p.m. Sunday in Birmingham.
