Firefighters are trying to determine what started a devastating fire that caused more than $1 million in damage to the popular Red Rock Canyon Grill.
The fire started just after midnight at the restaurant at 9221 Lake Hefner Parkway. Employees still inside the restaurant smelled the smoke first then spotted the flames. Everyone safely escaped from the burning building and someone called 911.
Firefighters arrived within minutes, but the flames spread so fast it became a three-alarm fire and crews went into defensive mode. Firefighters say the fire destroyed the restaurant's roof, but structure itself is still sound.
It's not known yet what caused the fire. There's a possibility lightning from the storms may be to blame.
