LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas -

Arkansas took a lead early in the game, but the Drillers' pitching clamped down and kept the Travelers' bats in check, allowing Tulsa to come away with a 6-1 win, their eighth consecutive win.

The Travelers took advantage of a two-out double from Casey Haerther in the bottom of the first, stealing third in the following at-bat. After an intentional walk, Roberto Lopez sent a line-drive single to right field to bring Hearther home to take a 1-0 advantage.

Tulsa answered in the third inning, with Warren Schaeffer knocking a two-out double to center field. Michael Mitchell followed with a single to center field, bringing Schaeffer home, tying the game.

The Drillers took the lead in the top of the fourth as Ben Paulsen doubled to right field, advancing to third on a wild pitch. Kiel Roling followed with aline-drive single to left field, bringing Paulsen home and giving Tulsa a 2-1 lead.

Tulsa capitalized on the Travelers' pitching issues in the top of the eighth to build their lead.

A trio of walks loaded the bases with a pair of outs on the board, and a wild pitch scored Warren Schaeffer to push the lead to two runs. Tim Torres drew a walk in the next at-bat and Roling followed with a bases-clearing double to take a 6-1 advantage.

Nich Schmidt (5-3) picked up a win after largely shutting down the Arkansas offense, giving up just six hits and one earned run, striking out four in five innings. John Hellweg (2-6) was credited with a loss, giving up two earned runs on six hits in seven innings.

Tulsa will stay in the state of Arkansas and begin a four-game series against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, starting at 7 p.m. Monday.
