TULSA, Oklahoma -

The Tulsa Drillers attempted to mount a comeback Saturday, but were unable to complete the run and fell to the Springfield Cardinals 5-4 in the second game of the four-game series.

The Drillers trailed 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth, when Josh Rutledge doubled on a ground ball to left field to move into scoring position with one out on the board. Two at-bats later, Nolan Arenado singled to left field to bring Rutledge home and cut the deficit to three runs.

Tulsa continued to chip into the lead, in the bottom of the eighth, thanks to an RBI triple by Corey Dickerson and a double-play two at-bats later allowing Dickerson to score, pulling to a 4-3 deficit.

However, Travis Tartamella gave the Cardinals some more breathing room in the top of the ninth via two-out, solo home run.

Kiel Roling hit a leadoff double in the bottom of the ninth and scored on the next at-bat thanks to a Lars Davis single, pulling back to a 5-4 deficit. However, Warren Schaeffer grounded into a double-play and Tim Torres flew out to center field to end the game.

Trevor Rosenthal (6-6) came away with a win for his outing, giving up just two hits and striking out four in his five innings of service. Joe Gardner was credited with a loss, giving up three earned runs on four hits in six innings pitched.

Tulsa will try to get back to winning at 7:05 p.m. Sunday in the third game of the four-game series against Springfield.
