A North Tulsa convenience store owner was shot and left for dead, and his wife at home saw it happen via a web-based surveillance camera.

Tulsa Police say the woman was watching at home in Broken Arrow when a man entered the convenience store in the 1000 block of North Utica at about 10:15 p.m. and shot the clerk during a robbery.

Police say the 62-year-old owner fell to the floor behind the register and the robber fired one shot, but the victim was not hit.  The robber held the victim at gunpoint as he removed money from the register. The robber then grabbed the victim and pulled him towards the entrance.  He removed the victim's belt and attempted to tie the victim's hands together, but then decided to leave the store.  The robber came back inside and shot the victim in the lower back, then ran away.

The owner's wife told police she saw what happened via a web-based surveillance camera.  She called 911, but because they live in Broken Arrow, she got Broken Arrow Police. Dispatchers transferred her to Tulsa Police's 911 center, but she says no one answered.

In a panic, she called a relative who lived near the store.  By the time the relative got to the Convenient Food Mart, Tulsa Police were on scene because the owner was able to call 911.

EMSA transported the owner to a Tulsa hospital.

Tulsa Police searched the area using a K-9 officer and the police helicopter, but were unable to locate the shooter.

Police say the clerk is expected to survive.
