Downed Power Line Ignites More Than 150 Hay Bales In Sperry

SPERRY, Oklahoma -

Sperry firefighters are battling a fire that started when a downed power line ignited about 150 hay bales on Wednesday afternoon.

The grass fire began near the 8900 block of North Harvard Avenue, and surrounding portions of Harvard Avenue have been closed.

Fire crews on the scene said it was brought under control about 3:30 p.m., and firefighters were monitoring for hot spots.

Scanner traffic about 5:30 p.m. indicated there had been another flare-up.
