A six year veteran of the Tulsa Police Department is on routine administrative leave after he was involved in a shooting early Sunday morning.

Police say Officer Joshua Goldstein, 30, shot a 35-year-old man who had exited a car firing a handgun at the officer.

The suspect, Harry Hamilton, Jr. was hit several times.  The officer was not injured in the gunfire exchange.

Goldstein had stopped Hamilton's car in the 100 block of South Olympia.

Hamilton remains in a Tulsa hospital.

Goldstein is on leave until an investigation is conducted by the Tulsa Police Department.
