TAMPA, Florida -

The Republican National Convention may be a long way away from Oklahoma, but it had a "Sooner State" feel Monday. Oklahoma's Governor was one of the speakers that took to the stage, to show her support for Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.

"We need a President who will encourage and applaud those who work hard, to pursue their dreams, to reach their potential, and in doing so make themselves and America better and stronger, and that man is Mitt Romney," said Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin.

Fallin spoke during a prime address and spotlighted the "Oklahoma Spirit."

"The history of Oklahoma is a good example of pursuing the American dream," said Governor Fallin during Tuesday's night speech.

The Governor spotlighted one of those dreams realized stories.

In her speech, she told the story of Oklahoma Oilman Harold Hamm. The self-made billionaire now employs around 700 people through his company Continental Resources,

Governor Fallin also touted the state's less than 5 percent unemployment rate. She called it an example of what can happen when the government lets go of its' regulatory "choke hold." She says if elected, Mitt Romney will rid America of its dependence on Foreign oil.

Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett addressed the convention Monday afternoon and highlighted the strides being made through what he called "fiscally conservative government leadership."

"Twenty years ago, we decided that we can do better and we have," said Mayor Cornett.
