OU Receiver Has NCAA Appeal Denied

NORMAN, Oklahoma -

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops announced on Monday that the NCAA has denied former Fresno State wide receiver Jalen Saunders' appeal for eligibility.

Saunders had asked the NCAA to waive its requirement that transfers sit out a season; the request had related to personal issues.

Saunders led Fresno State in receiving as a sophomore in 2011 with 50 receptions for 1,065 yards and 12 touchdowns en route to All-WAC accolades. He chose to leave the Bulldogs following the firing of former coach Pat Hill, who was replaced by former Texas A&M defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter.

Saunders figured to be a valuable asset in a rebuilding Sooner receiving corps.
