OKLAHOMA CITY -

The University of Oklahoma continues its fight against chronic diseases with the announcement of a grant.

The grant, worth nearly 10 million dollars, will be used for research over the next five years. Researchers will work to understand cancer, aging, osteoporosis, diabetes and other infections.

University of Oklahoma President David Boren says it's a grant for all Oklahomans.

"Because of all you're doing and what it will mean to their families to be able to get the benefits of the latest research and the most personalized care and clinical care," Boren said.

The grant is one of the largest ever awarded in the state.
