A man serving time for a murder he committed nearly 30 years ago is denied parole.
James L. Ables, Jr. went before the Pardon and Parole Board on Wednesday and was denied. Ables is currently serving a life sentence for the brutal rape and murder of Regina Rutledge. It happened in 1984.
Rutledge's daughter, Linda Zambrano, was only 11-years-old at the time of her mother's death. Zambrano drove from Houston to attend the parole hearing. She wanted to talk with Ables in person, but the board denied her request.
