The ribbon cutting for the new facility took place Monday
BIXBY, Oklahoma -
EMSA cut the ribbon on its new facility in Bixby Monday.
It's a deployment hub, where five ambulances are housed.
Paramedics report to work at the hub, get their ambulance assignment, and then fan out across the south side.
The goal is a faster response in the South Tulsa, Bixby and Jenks areas.
"If you look at the difference in the last ten years, there's a significant population growth in this area, so hence, with that, of course, the higher 911 call volume," said John Peterson, with Paramedics Plus.
There's been a dedicated ambulance service in Bixby since April.
The new hub started stocking and maintaining ambulances for the area last month.
