TULSA, Oklahoma -

Dozens of children at Tulsa's Whitman Elementary received an early Christmas surprise on Thursday.

Bikes for Tykes surprised hard-working students with 50 brand-new bikes today.

The kids were chosen thought a coloring contest at the school and they had no idea what was waiting for them outside the school doors.

"We want to reward them for their good behavior and their good character and their hard work," Christi Treat said.

Each child also was given a bike helmet.

By the end of the year, Bikes for Tykes will have given away 800 bikes to kids in the Tulsa area.
