NASHVILLE, Tennessee -

In the days following the elementary school massacre in Connecticut, an Oklahoma native pens a song of hope.

Singer/songwriter Tommy Bailey says he wrote the song, Let There Be Hope, for the victims, survivors, family members, the Sandy Hook community and the country as a whole.

"We believe in hope, but more than that, we believe the source of all hope is found in the person of Jesus Christ," said Bailey. "Caring for the minds of those closely affected by tragedies like the one in Newtown will be one of the most challenging and difficult tasks to undertake, especially when those most affected are children."

Police say 20-year-old Adam Lanza killed his mother before moving on to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut Friday, December 14, where he killed 20 children and six women. He then killed himself as police closed in.

"I stood staring at the television stunned by the revelation of a grave evil which was amplified by its proximity to Christmas day," said Tommy Bailey. "I had tremendous difficulty processing how such a tragedy could happen. There are no words that can fully comfort in times like these, and there are no songs that can put this puzzle together."

Bailey said the next day he took out his guitar and wrote the song along with his wife, Emily, which he hopes "is a blessing and a comfort to those who have been affected by this evil."

Tommy Bailey is a native Oklahoman but based in Nashville. He is the lead in the worship/rock band, Bailey as well as Catalog of Blunders.

All profits from the sale of the song will go to organizations which provide counseling services to those affected by the tragedy of Sandy Hook Elementary and others like it.

To purchase Let There Be Hope and support the counseling services, download the song from an online music store such as iTunes or AmazonMP3, or listen to the song on a streaming service like Spotify or Rdio.
