TULSA, Oklahoma -
Southbound Highway 169 was closed due to a rollover crash Wednesday afternoon.
A pickup truck hauling a trailer full of a mixture of sand, grass and gravel crashed on the highway near 36th Street North, around 4:40 p.m.
Tulsa Police said the pickup was attempting to change lanes at a high rate of speed in rush hour traffic, when he overcorrected and lost control. They said the driver was ejected from the truck, and he was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver was transported to an area hospital by EMSA. He was listed in critical condition Wednesday evening.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, police said.
The truck was separated from the trailer and upside down in a ditch on the west side of the highway, while police investigated the crash and crews worked to clear up the mess on the roadway.
The highway was re-opened, but traffic was still slowed as of 8:30 p.m.
