Bryton Hobbs was named to the 2013 National Association of Basketball Coaches' All-Central Region First Team. The all-region teams are selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division II.

Hobbs will now move onto the national ballot to be considered for All-American status.

The only other player from the MIAA to join Hobbs on the central region first team was Washburn's Will McNeill. The other members of the first team were Augustana's Cameron McCaffrey, St. Cloud State's Theo Rothstein, Winona State's Clayton Vette, and Minnesota State's Jarvis Williams.

In his first year as a member of the RiverHawks, the junior guard averaged 18.3 points per game and led Northeastern State back to the NCAA Championship tournament for the first time in 10 years. He was also named to the All-MIAA First Team and the Daktronics All-Central Region Second Team.

Hobbs finished third in the MIAA in scoring, fifth in assists (4.9 apg) and first in minutes played (34.5 mpg). He scored in double figures in all but two games and reached the 20-point plateau 10 times.

The RiverHawks (19-9) were selected to compete in the 2013 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship, and they earned the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Central Regional. NSU fell 70-57 to No. 2 seed and Central Regional champion Winona State 70-57 in the first round.

Northeastern State also tied for third in the MIAA with a 12-6 record after the team was selected in the preseason to finish 14th.
