Posted: Updated:

Here is a wrap up of the college softball action on Friday:

No. 1 Sooners Top Baylor

NORMAN, Okla. – Lauren Chamberlain's three-run home run in the fifth inning capped a five-run fifth inning to propel No. 1 Oklahoma to an 8-3 win over No. 18 Baylor Friday night in Norman.

Chamberlain's homer was her 17th this season, which leads the nation.

Keilani Ricketts picked up the win to improve to 17-1 this season. Ricketts struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings, giving up three runs on six hits and three walks. The win was also the 115th of her career, tying the school record for wins.

Whitney Canion picked up the loss for Baylor, which had knotted the score at two in the top of the third on a two-RBI double from Sarah Smith before the Sooners explosion in the fifth inning.

Oklahoma batters drew nine walks from Canion and Courtney Repka, three of those coming with the bases loaded.

OSU rallies late, loses series opener

AMES, Iowa – Oklahoma State lost an 11-8 decision to the Iowa State Friday in the Big 12 Conference series opener. OSU took an early 2-0 lead, tied the game at 6-6 and rallied in the seventh, but lost to ISU, ended a four-game winning streak versus the Cyclones.

The Cowgirls led 2-0 in the top of the second on a bases-loaded double by Ari Morrison. ISU responded in the bottom of the frame, scoring five runs, including four on a grand slam by Tori Torrescano. A leadoff home run in the third gave ISU a 6-2 lead.

In the top of the fourth, the OSU drew three-straight walks to lead off the inning. Then Tarah Ettinger hit a two-run double off ISU reliever Taylor Smith. A bases-loaded walk by Tiffany Mikkelson added a run, and OSU tied the score on a base hit by Shelby Davis at 6-6.

A run in the bottom of the fourth and four more in the sixth gave Iowa State an 11-6 cushion. OSU scored two in the top of the seventh on three-straight hits and a sacrifice fly, but two more fly outs ended the rally with Iowa State holding on for an 11-8 win.
