A Luther funeral home was in trouble again. The owners of Brown's Funeral Parlor appeared before the state's funeral board Thursday morning.

Tom Brown, his son Isaac and their funeral director Jennifer Bailey were supposed to be at the hearing, but Bailey never showed up. She also did not show up for three prior depositions.

Neither the Browns nor their attorney answered questions after the hearing before the Oklahoma Funeral Board. They have been accused of shady business practices including missing headstones, late death certificates and operating without a licensed funeral director present.

Bobbie Combs says it took the Browns more than three weeks to get her husband's death certificate to her. The family said they never saw a physical casket at the funeral home and Combs was not even prepared an hour before his viewing.

"You assume when you walk into a funeral parlor that they're on the up and up. I had no idea of what it was like until afterwards. Would I recommend him? No I would not," said Combs.

The Oklahoma Funeral Board does have a record of Jennifer Baily, but it says she is not a licensed embalmer. Neither Tom nor Isaac Brown are licensed funeral directors. Tom lost his license 10 years ago.

The hearing is scheduled to resume on Thursday, April 18.
