Del City Police are searching for someone who abducted a girl from her home but released her after being scared off police.
On April 11 just before 9 p.m., a woman reported her 10-year-old daughter missing from the 4100 block of Monica Drive. The woman said her daughter had disappeared from the family's backyard. Police quickly responded and began searching the area.
The mother called police 45 minutes later and said her daughter had returned home. The girl told officers that she'd walked out of her backyard and seen a young male standing in her neighbor's yard. She said the person grabbed her and started running.
The child said her abductor hit her several times, but he appeared to become nervous when he saw police officers in the area. The child told police her abductor took her back to her home and threw her over the fence into her backyard. Police say the girl suffered minor injuries.
Police have released a sketch and a description of the suspect. The abductor is described as a black male, 15 to 18 years old with a skinny build. He had short, curly hair and brown eyes, and was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Del City Police Department at (405) 677-2443.
