Durant Will Not Play Wednesday Against Milwaukee

Posted: Updated:

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced on Wednesday that Kevin Durant will sit out Wednesday's regular-season finale against the Milwaukee Bucks.

This means Durant is conceding the scoring title to New York's Carmelo Anthony, ending his three-year reign atop the NBA's scoring list.

Durant needed an unrealistic 70 points to catch Anthony to begin with after the Knicks' forward averaged nearly 37 points per game in April to swoop in for the scoring lead.

KD finished the regular season averaging 28.1 points and joins the elite "50-40-90" club with 51 percent shooting, 41.6 percent from 3-point range and 90.5 percent from the free-throw line on the season. He becomes just the sixth player in NBA history to achieve the feat.

The decision ends a streak of 209 straight games for Durant, who hasn't been out of the lineup since Dec. 3. 2010.

The Thunder will face the Bucks at 7 p.m. at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
