The Red Cross opened an emergency shelter at the First United Methodist Church in Spavinaw for those impacted by Thursday morning's storm.

Officials say Red Cross personnel are driving throughout the neighborhoods in the Delaware County community offering snacks and water.

The Red Cross will provide dinner at the shelter on Lake Street Thursday evening.

The organization says additional teams are in Delaware County assessing damage and residents' needs. Based on those findings, the Red Cross will deploy more teams and resources as needed.

Red Cross teams are also out in Bixby and Broken Arrow assisting residents.

The Red Cross says they remain in contact with area emergency management offices, fire departments and other officials who are providing information about storm damage.
