OKLAHOMA CITY -

She's a little girl that's captured a lot of hearts. Many of us have been voting for Macie Greene online to help her family win a handicap accessible van. Well, now the family's dream has come true in an unexpected way.

News 9 was the first to tell you about Macie a month ago, and since then, an overwhelming number of votes put her in 2nd place in the national contest. That contest is still going, but thanks to a generous local couple, the Greenes have a brand new van today.

"After it was on the news, more and more people were liking her ‘Vote for Macie' page and people were just so sweet with their comments. They were voting two or three times a day," Brenda Greene said.

For weeks, Macie counted the votes on her chalkboard. The Greenes entered a national contest to win a wheelchair accessible van to help Macie get around a little easier. Macie's dad is an Oklahoma City police officer, and her mom Brenda is her full-time caretaker.

A few weeks ago, a rainy day made her realize they needed a new van more than ever.

"[I] got on the highway, was driving to therapy, and I looked in my rearview mirror to look at her and check on her, and she was watching her Dora, and her glasses were full of rain," Greene says. "That was a breaking point for me, it just really upset me."

An answer to their prayers came in phone call from a couple who wanted to remain anonymous. They donated a brand new van so the Greenes wouldn't have to keep competing in the contest.

"It's hard to believe there's people out there who will do that," Greene says. "Thank you. You just want to hug somebody, just want to continue hugging them forever."

As far as the contest, the Greenes tell me they're dropping out now to allow another family to the opportunity to have a brand new van too.
