Corn Man Killed After Run Over By Own Pickup

KIOWA COUNTY, Oklahoma -

A Corn, Oklahoma, man was killed after he was run over by his own pickup in Kiowa County Wednesday afternoon.

It happened on County Road N/S 2300, at County Road E/W 1370 just south of Gotebo, Oklahoma.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 79-year-old Andrew Schmidt was backing his pickup in a ditch on County Road 2300, spraying chemical in the fence line. For an unknown reason, Schmidt stepped out or fell out of the pickup, and was then backed over by the vehicle.

Schmidt was pronounced dead at the scene. He was transported to Hackney Funeral Home in Hobart, Oklahoma.
