Oklahomans Take The Bully Test

Posted: Updated:
What would you do if you saw a bully picking on someone? What would you do if you saw a bully picking on someone?

We hear about it all the time. A child is bullied at school, on the bus or even the internet. More often than not, we're told nothing is done about it. What would you do if you saw a bully picking on someone?

We asked local teen actors and friends to stage a bullying attack to see how Oklahomans would react. With hidden cameras, we watched the whole thing unfold from the car. Dozens of people watched as the bullies repeatedly pushed two girls down and called them names. As you will see in this video, reactions varied drastically.

We showed the bully test to a local family therapist. Sarah McFadden with Sunbeam Family Services explains why some people turn their heads and what we should all do to stand up to bullying.

The biggest obstacle with bullying is adults typically don't witness it. Here are some warning signs parents and teachers can look for:

* They tend to isolate themselves

* They lose interest in activities they once enjoyed

* A drastic change in school performance raises a red flag

* Loss of sleep or appetite

McFadden says parents and teachers should use their intuition. If something doesn't seem right, talk to the child and see how you can help.
