Posted: Updated:

Catcher John Hester hit two home runs to lead the Salt Lake Bees in a 3-2 win against the Oklahoma City RedHawks Monday in front of a crowd of 3,290 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Bees (19-20) took a 3-0 edge in the series and won for the ninth-straight time against the RedHawks (22-15) since 2011.

Hester went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs for the Bees. Starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker (3-5) allowed one run on five hits, walked three and struck out five in the win.

Jonathan Villar went 3-for-4 with a double and triple for the RedHawks. Brett Wallace recorded two RBI and two hits for Oklahoma City.

Villar led off the game for the RedHawks with a double. Wallace later followed with a double to score Villar for a 1-0 lead.

Hester's first home run of the night tied the game, 1-1, in the third inning. His homer in the fifth gave the Bees the lead. Matt Young grounded into a force out and Brad Hawpe scored for a 3-1 Bees lead in the sixth inning.

A broken bat RBI single to center by Wallace scored Villar, who got on base with a triple, in the seventh.

Oklahoma City went 4-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left 12 on base.

RedHawks starting pitcher Brad Peacock (0-1) threw five innings, striking out a season-high nine, and allowed two runs on four hits in the loss.

The RedHawks' series against Salt Lake concludes with an 11:05 a.m. field trip day game Tuesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
