MOORE, Oklahoma -

On this Memorial Day, as we honor those who died fighting for our country, there is special attention being paid to our veterans whose final resting place was in the path of destruction just one week ago.

That EF-5 tornado devastated the Moore Cemetery off S.W. 4th, which is right next to the Plaza Towers neighborhood.

Volunteers worked for the last week to clear some of the debris at Moore Cemetery but for those paying their respects on Memorial Day, the cleanup is still far from over.

"We just want to honor her father," Gary McGinley said.

"We came out to do some cleaning, we brought some materials to clean with.," Gary said.

The resting ground for Cheryl's father and dozens of other veterans were disturbed when the tornado tore through Moore Cemetery on May 20, 2013.

"It took one of the vases out and the other vase was part way off," Cheryl said.

Cheryl said the winds ripped memorials straight out of the ground, and knocked over headstones.

The McGinleys were witness to other volunteers in service. They are honoring veterans not just in life, but in death.

"It takes a lot to dig through things. A lot of people are still just coping with their home and the loss of all their things," Cheryl said.
