STILLWATER, Oklahoma -

Oklahoma State senior Markel Brown has been invited to participate in the 2013 USA Basketball Men's World University Games Team training camp, it was announced Monday by the USA Basketball Men's Junior National Team Committee.

The training camp will take place June 24-30 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

"The committee has assembled one of the strongest World University Games training camp rosters USA Basketball has ever had," said Jim Boeheim, chair of the USA Men's Junior National Team Committee. "It includes some of the top players in college basketball, several of whom have international experience. Selecting the players for the final roster is going to be a real challenge."

Davidson's Bob McKillop will lead the USA team, with assistant coaches John Beilein of Michigan and South Carolina's Frank Martin. Additionally, Tad Boyle of Colorado, Jim Kessler of Grace College, and Elon's Matt Matheney have been tabbed as court coaches for the training camp.

The training camp roster includes two-time All-American Doug McDermott of Creighton, Duke's Quinn Cook, PJ Hairston of North Carolina, Louisville's Luke Hancock, and Baylor's Cory Jefferson, the only other member of the Big 12 Conference that is included on the training camp roster.

Two former Cowboys have competed in the World University Games. Fredrik Jönzén, a 2002 OSU graduate, competed in the 2000 WUGs for his home country of Sweden and finished seventh. Former Cowboy and current Houston Rocket James Anderson helped the USA team to a bronze medal in 2009. Current OSU athletic trainer Jason Miller served as the athletic trainer for that same 2009 squad.

The 2013 World University Games are scheduled to be played July 6-17 in Kazan, Russia. The United States has claimed 19 medals in the World University Games since beginning play in 1965, and has captured a record 13 golds, three silvers and three bronze medals in the 20 WUGs in which a USA Basketball men's squad as competed. The USA men own a stellar 138-9 record in WUGs play.
