OKLAHOMA CITY -

Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt's Victim Services Unit is providing inmate tracking information and alerts through a new free mobile app for crime victims, the state announced Wednesday.

The Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) program is a free and anonymous service that allows Oklahomans to register and be notified about changes in the status of Oklahoma inmates.

The VINEmobile app allows victims of crime and the public to use smart phones or tablets to notify the user with the inmate's current status information, including general release date, escape, returns from escape, death, out to court and unsupervised custody. VINE offers multiple ways to receive notifications.

The program is provided in county jails and the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. VINE transfers data every 15 minutes from county jails and DOC, and probation and parole data is processed each evening.

They app is available for both Android and Apple devices. For Android devices, users can search Google Play or the Apple store with the search term "VINEMobile."

To sign up for the VINE program, Oklahomans can click here or call (877) OK4-VINE.
