LOGAN COUNTY, Oklahoma -

The Logan County Sheriff's office discovered a sophisticated marijuana growing operation in eastern Logan County, early Saturday morning.

A landowner alerted the Logan County Sheriff's office of the operation, growing on property near State Highway 105 and Triple X Road, around 8:30 a.m. When deputies arrived they found a 25 sq. yd. area with 24 actively growing marijuana plants.

Deputies say the area was surrounded by piles of fallen branches and scrub brush, in an effort to conceal the grow. Investigators say there was evidence present to suggest an "organized and purposeful" cultivation.

A sophisticated irrigation system was present and the plants had obviously been weeded and cared for, for an extended period of time.

While on scene, a suspect approached the area on foot, but when he saw deputies he fled the scene and a short foot pursuit began. The suspect managed to elude officers and drive away from the scene in a white Ford Ranger pickup.

Deputies describe the suspect as a white male, approximately 30 years of age, wearing camouflage and carrying a duffle bag.

An agent with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) also responded to the scene and examined the operation. The OBN agent and sheriff's deputies then destroyed the plants and the cultivation materials at the site.

If you have any information regarding this growing operation, or know the whereabouts or the identity of the suspect sought, please contact the OBN at (800) 522-8031. You can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
