A man from Inola, Oklahoma, is in serious condition after authorities say he fell into the roadway and was then hit by a car Saturday night.

It happened at about 10:30 p.m. on County Road North South 4170 and East West 590, near Inola in Rogers County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Gabriel Haywood was stumbling around as he was walking, when he fell into the roadway and was then struck by a 1998 Honda driven by 68-year-old Terence G. Sylvester.

Haywood was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa in serious condition, suffering from head, trunk, and internal injuries.

Sylvester was not injured.

Troopers say they did smell an odor of alcoholic beverage on Haywood. They listed the cause of the collision as "pedestrian action" in the OHP collision report.
