Troopers say alcohol was involved in a wreck that killed a Welling man Saturday in Cherokee County. The one-vehicle crash took place just before 7:30 p.m. on State Highway 100, about 9 miles south of Tahlequah.

According to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Troy Bohlander was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup westbound on the highway. He failed to make a curve and ran off the roadway to the left.

The pickup flipped and hit a tree in midair, the report states. Bohlander, 35, was ejected and landed about 9 feet away.

Troopers say the Welling resident smelled of alcohol. The cause of the collision is listed as unsafe speed, exceeding the legal limit. Bohlander was not wearing a seatbelt.
